About Rob $tone

San Diego rapper Rob $tone rose to national attention with his 2015 debut single, “Chill Bill,” a whistle-driven song inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill films. • $tone decided he wanted to be a rapper at the age of five after seeing the music video for Lil Bow Wow’s Snoop Dogg-featuring 2000 single “Bow Wow (That’s My Name).” • “Chill Bill” was the first song $tone ever released. He and his collaborators created the song following a stressful morning in which they were picked up by police, put in the back of a squad car, and released due to lack of evidence. • Built on a sample of a whistled melody by composer Bernard Herrmann that’s heard in Kill Bill, “Chill Bill” peaked at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100. $tone enlisted D.R.A.M., Denzel Curry, and Cousin Stizz for the remix. • In 2020, $tone returned after a year and a half off to drop his sophomore album, $tone Cold, featuring the woozy lead single “Too Faded.” $tone recruited Snoop Dogg to guest on the remix for the album’s deluxe edition.
